Good News Friday: Local Food is Coming Your Way and Windsor Award Winners

I have to give a special shout out to WIN-TV Director Jenny Hawran this morning.

Jenny, Shad Derby Festival co-chairs Kopacz and Deana Stechschulte and I joined forces last night for a strong fourth-place finish at the Shad Derby Trivia Contest held at the Windsor Historical Society.

The real reason I'm mentioning Jenny's name today is for sharing some good news on the WIN-TV Facebook page yesterday — news that will only solidify the belief that our kids in Windsor are both talented and kind.

Jenny shared the news that three Windsor High students, one of whom is involved with WIN-TV, won first place in HACTAC's PSA contest for their video about cyberbullying.

In other good news, now's your chance to earn your green thumb and stay healthy while you're at it.

Community garden plots are now available at Northwest Park.

The plots are "36 feet by 36 feet, pre-harrowed and marked for those wishing to use their green thumb," according to the Windsor Chamber of Commerce.

Even better: the plots cost just $35 for Windsor residents. Non-residents are charged $45.
