Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service Will Honor Windsor's Watts

Fallen Windsor Volunteer Firefighter Robert Watts' name will be added to the memorial.

Fallen Windsor Volunteer Firefighter Robert Watts will be honored Sunday during the ninth annual Connecticut Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service to be held at the Connecticut Fire Academy in Windsor Locks.

“This memorial service provides us all with a valuable opportunity to honor all of the brave firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty,” said Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection Commissioner Reuben F. Bradford. “We will never forget the sacrifices they have made.”

A member of the Windsor Volunteer Fire Company for nearly a decade, .

In addition to Watts, Bruce Bachinsky of the Waterbury Fire Department will be honored.

Bachinsky died in October 2010 after suffering "a massive heart attack" shortly after his shift, according to WTNH.

The memorial service will begin at 12 p.m. at .

During the service, a recently installed 12-foot steal beam from the World Trade Center will be dedicated.

The hour-long event will be held rain or shine, and the public is invited.
