With no winning ticket sold over Thanksgiving weekend, lottery players have flocked to gas stations, liquor stores and convenience stores throughout the nations, sending the jackpot soaring to a record $175 million.
Powerball is a multi-state game with jackpots that start at $40 million. The jackpots increase at least $10 Million between each drawing and grow until they are won, according to the Connecticut Lottery website. Powerball jackpot drawings are conducted every Wednesday and Saturday night.
Connecticut has had a past of selling winning tickets, including a $254 million jackpot winner to a trio of Greenwich asset managers in 2011.
