Connecticut Chuckles VIII Prepares for Her Big Day

Like some Rock-and-Roll superstar who goes on tour every summer, Connecticut Chuckles' Groundhog Day prediction at the Lutz Children's Museum in Manchester is anxiously anticipated and eagerly scrutinized each and every year. 

Chuckles, the official Connecticut State Groundhog, spends the better part of the year consulting with meteorology experts and preparing herself for her moment in the sun, which will come at about 6:30 a.m. Groundhog Day morning Saturday, Feb. 2., 2013 at the Lutz Children's Museum located at 247 South Main St. in town. 

If Chuckles spies her shadow Saturday, it means we are in for six more weeks of winter. If she doesn't, then it's an omen of an early spring. 

This year's event is extra special because it marks the debut of Connecticut Chuckles VIII, who replaces Connecticut Chuckles VII after her tragic death early last year.

Patch was fortunate enough to snag an exclusive interview with the new Chuckles, who revealed that her favorite part of the new job so far were the "groupies." 

The Lutz will open at 6 a.m for the event, and Chuckles is due to emerge at 6:30a.m. Saturday morning to make her prediction. Afterwards, the museum invites all to stay for hot coffee and breakfast foods. The event is free and open to the public.

But, don't worry, unlike a rockstar, Chuckles will appear come snow, sleet, rain, ice, wind, or some combination of them all Groundhog Day morning.
