Blizzard Warning Issued for Windsor

A weather alert issued by the National Weather Service has been intensified, from blizzard watch to blizzard warning as two feet of snow are expected to fall overnight, Friday.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a blizzard warning for Windsor — an upgrade from the blizzard watch issued early Thursday.

According the NWS, the warning is in effect from 6 a.m. on Friday until 1 p.m. Saturday.

Eighteen to 24 inches of snow are expected to fall, but heavy snow isn't expected to fall until later in the day on Friday.

White out conditions are expected, the NWS reports, making travel conditions dangerous. Additionally, winds with gusts up to to 50 mph are expected, "resulting in blowing and drifting of snow."

Tree and structure damage, in addition to "scattered power outages" are expected to occure, the NWS reports.
