A Windsor Soldier's Thanks Come Home [With Video]

Coordinating the efforts of WIN-TV's SEND Hometown Windsor to the Troops program, Ann Walsh has received a number of thank-you letters from Windsor troops in conflict zones.

When the twin towers fell on Sept. 11, 2001, the nation collectively mourned the greatest tragedy of a generation. Since that time, some things have changed, including efforts to support fellow Americans in their endeavors, especially those fighting in conflict zones.

WIN-TV's SEND Hometown Windsor to the Troops is a great example of that effort. The program raises hundreds of dollars each month to ship items (most of which are taken for granted stateside) to soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan with Windsor connections.

Ann Walsh, who coordinates the effort in conjunction with a few volunteers, has since received her fair share of letters from those troops — letters detailing how much the care packages mean to them.
