Save Our Students’ Education Programs
The Windsor Board of Education must cut $600,000 from their 2013-14 school budget. The Windsor Board of Education this past Tuesday, 5/21/13, began discussions on suggested programs, services, and staff that could be cut. While no proposals were formally made, the following students’ education programs were discussed for possible cuts: Possible Cuts Impacting Students’ Education Programs
- Gifted and talented programs
- Pay-for-play sports
- Cuts to enrichment programs like art and music
- Foreign language in the elementary schools (FLES)
- Reducing after-school busing
- Elimination of teachers and increasing class sizes
- Administrative staff
- All-day Kindergarten
- Technology Director
- Community Liaison
- New website
- Outside consultants for goal setting and implementation
- Outside consultants for BoE self-evaluation, mission statement and values
- One-to-one computer pilot for grade 6
- Alternative education program at Roger Wolcott
- Three-year Excellent and Equity Review
