Democratic Town Committee Flawed Selection Process

Concerned Mothers and Fathers question the selection process followed by the Democratic Town Committee Nominating Panel to interview political candidates for the Town Council, Board of Education and Constables for the 2013 fall elections. It has been confirmed by Councilman William Herzfeld that Mayor Donald Trinks was not endorsed by the committee to run for a seventh term. Herzfeld and 3 other council incumbents, Alan Simon, Randy McKenney and Jody Terranova, all received endorsements. According to sources, at the nominating committee meeting no one asked Mayor Trinks a single question or for an explanation of any votes. In addition there is speculation that Mayor Trinks is being punished for running against Democratic Town Committee Chairman Leo Canty last year in a Democratic primary for the newly reconstituted 5th House District. In a second primary Brand McGee easily defeated Leo Canty. The process by this selection committee is severely flawed when questions are not asked of a candidate. Concerned Mothers and Fathers request the Democratic Town Committee Nominating Panel revisit and complete a new, fair and equitable interview process with all candidates. This should be completed prior to the Democratic Town Committee meeting this Thursday June 6th at 7:30pm in the Council Chambers at the Town Hall. We encourage all Registered Democrats to attend the June 6th meeting at 7:30pm to hear the Democratic Town Committee Nominating Panel’s endorsements. Please remember, Mayor Donald Trinks, the Democratic Party’s highest vote getter in the past six town council elections, has always done his best to represent and serve EVERY INDIVIDUAL WINDSOR CITIZEN. Concerned Mothers and Fathers as always are interested in your thoughts and comments.
