BUDGET REFERENDUM – YES or NO

BUDGET REFERENDUM – YES or NO

It has come to the attention of Concerned Mothers and Fathers that there is great confusion related to the June 25th Budget Referendum and the EER Study.

Jill Jenkins on June 18th at the Windsor Town Hall coordinated an NAACP Press Conference addressing the Achievement Gap, Dr. Marlon James, and the EER Study.  The Windsor Board of Education Meeting followed and during Audience to Visitors, some citizens stated almost exactly the same message, which was … a yes vote for the budget will also support continuation of the EER Study.

Jill Jenkins Facebook posting on June 19th praised the speakers recognizing how they wanted the study to move forward and their vote counted.  She also shared “some great news.”  Dr. Marlon James will be coming to Windsor, per her invitation, on June 25th 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm at Hopewell Baptist Church on Windsor Avenue.  She stated, “So after we vote and pass the budget, we can meet up together and draw on his knowledge and experiences. I can’t wait.”

Concerned Mothers and Fathers are extremely confused.  We thought the EER Contract was cancelled after the first year by Loyola University with Windsor.  But, based on the above information, does a “yes vote” in the Budget Referendum on June 25th mean Dr. Marlon James and the EER Study will continue?  Does a “no vote” in the Budget Referendum on June 25th mean Dr. Marlon James and the EER Study will not continue?  We would like some clarification from elected officials and citizens.
