What Business Should Go Here?

The vacancy sits in a prime location of Broad Street.

Let's call this a modern spin on community planning - Patch's version of a charette, a digital drawing board where all ideas are on the table.

Each week we'll present a new vacant building and ask you to tell us what you think would be the best use. Forget what zone it's in, ignore setback regulations, dump lot coverage rules and all the other zoning jargon that puts people most to sleep. If you had your way, what would you like to see there? What would be the best use for the community?

We launch this new weekly series by featuring one of the vacant shops beside the Plaza building on Broad Street.

With the recent purchase of the Plaza building, everyone in town has begun to discuss the possibilities of, not only the development of the old theater location, but the development of adjacent properties, which were purchased by the same buyer.

For years, town officials have discussed, invested in and sold properties — all with the intention of building up Windsor Center, but key locations remain in need of significant development.

The location has a history of use as a barber shop and retail space, but we're asking you, Windsor residents, what type of business would best serve the community in this location?
