Sovereign Bank to Undergo Name Change

The bank has one location in Windsor.

Boston-based Sovereign Bank will soon legally change its name to that of its parent company, Spain’s Santander Bank.

Plans to market the Sovereign brand as Santander will begin this fall, according to the company.

“Under the Santander name, we will marry the local insights and relationships of a committed, community-focused bank with the breadth and expertise of a major global financial institution,” said Carlos Garcia, chief corporate affairs and communications officer at Sovereign Bank and Santander Holdings USA.

The bank has over 30 Connecticut branches, including one location in Windsor at 578 Windsor Ave.
