Dorothy & Leroy's motto is “If You Ain’t Ate At Dorothy And Leroy’s, You Just Ain’t Ate!”
The Windsor Locks-based restaurant plans to bring its cajun and southern cuisine to Broad Street in the near future, according to signs the eatery has placed in the windows of the old Whistle Stop Cafe location.
The restaurant, which first opened in Springfield, MA in the 1980's, has been in its Windsor Locks location for nearly two years, and features a menu chalk full of southern classics like fried chicken, pulled pork, barbecue ribs, black-eyed peas and candied yams alongside cajun specialties like jumbalaya, etoufee, catfish and a gumbo of the day.
You can even find the southern delicacy hog-maw on the menu, which is slow-cooked pig stomach served over rice.
Dorothy & Leroy's has also had locations in South Hadley and Wilbraham, MA, as well as Bloomfield.
It seems like, from the reviews, Dorothy and Leroy's uses cheap, low grade, meat products, but does a good job seasoning them. I would be prudent in eating here because I wouldn't want to consume food that was heavily processed or coming from a source with known pathogens. It just can't be good when all the reviews against it, sight the poor quality in the meat. Maybe too risky.
