Located in Windsor Center, the Union Street Tavern is your classic bar and grill that adds to its character by holding onto a piece of history.

The tavern is housed in the second firehouse ever built in Windsor, Connecticut's oldest town. Vintage photographs and memorabilia of Windsor firefighters line the exposed-brick walls, which blend well with an antique bar constructed in the early 20th century.

Established in 2006 because owner Kevin Farley felt "Windsor needed a restaurant," the classic tavern has come to offer what Farley calls classic American cuisine, with the majority of menu items being freshly made on the premises. "We have something for everyone," he said, but his personal favorite would be a toss up between the pesto pasta dish or the fish 'n chips.

The Tavern's menu covers everything from wings, quesadillas and crab cakes to sandwiches, steak and swordfish.

The sandwich items are a mix of classic sandwiches, including items such as Tuscan chicken, the reuben, tuna melt, a build-your-own burger option, and a portabella mushroom sandwich for those who stay away from meat.

The fully stocked bar, with a number of beers on tap, is open late into the night every day of the week, with a $3.00 beer charge during happy hour from 4 p.m. - 12 a.m., Monday through Friday.
