Amazon's Windsor Land Deal Finalized

Amazon is set to build a 1.5-million-square-foot facility on Day Hill Road in Windsor.

Griffin Land has closed on a deal to sell a parcel of land on Day Hill Road to the developer tasked with constructing Amazon's 1.5-million-square-foot distribution center, Hartford Business reports.

The deal was announced in a statement made by the company, which said the parcel was sold for $9 million.

Amazon's project was approved by Windsor's inland, wetlands and watercourses commission, and planning and zoning commission in September, and a tax break averaging 60 percent over a five year period was approved by the town council in October.

Amazon is expected to spend some $100 million on the project, and has revealed an ability to break ground this month.

Windsor will collect $6.2 million on the property during the five year tax abatement period. The town currently collects about $6,000 on the property per year.
