Amazon May Make Windsor New Distribution Center Host

A 1.5 million square foot distribution center may be coming to Windsor.

Windsor may be home to Amazon.com's newest distribution center, according to a Hartford Business Journal report.

According to HBJ, an application filed with the Windsor planning and zoning office includes a number of clues pointing toward Amazon developing a parcel on Day Hill road.

While the application does not include the name "Amazon," HBJ reports the applicant -- New York private equity firm KTR Capital Partners -- has a history of development for "several such sites for Amazon."

According to HBJ, no parties involved have confirmed Amazon is the company with hopes of moving to Windsor's corporate district.

According to documents on file at the planning and zoning office, KTR Captial Partners is identified as the buyer of the parcel owned by Griffin Land's River Band branch.

The parcel, according to documents, is 166 acres of industrial-zoned land.

According to the HBJ report, Amazon announced last November it will be collecting online sales tax from Connecticut customers.
