Frank "Bill" Carmon, Funeral Director, Dies at 61

Frank W. "Bill" Carmon, III, Vice President of Carmon Funeral Homes has died, a source close to the family confirmed Friday morning.

Carmon was 61 years old.

The quintessential Windsorite, Carmon left few areas of community life in town untouched and helped families get through the toughest of times for decades.

According to his Carmon Funeral Homes bio, Carmon was a 1970 graduate of Windsor High School, Grand Marshal of the 2011 Shad Derby Parade, an active member of Windsor's Washington Lodge #70, AF & AM, a four-decade member and former president of the Windsor Lions, member of Trinity Christian Church, sexton of Palisado and Riverside cemeteries and a member of the 1st School Society of Windsor.

A 1971 graduate of the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service, Carmon's community impact and professional excellence stretched far beyond Windsor's boders, which is evidenced by his positions in multiple organizations and honors earned over the years.

Carmon was a Gold Key Funeral Director, a preferred funeral service professional and member of the National Funeral Directors Association and Selected Independent Funeral Homes.

He was also a member of the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association, president and director of Hartford's South Green Memorial Funeral Home, member of the Windsor Historical Society and Granby's Salmon Brook Historical Society, and Past President of the Granby Chamber of Commerce.

According to his Carmon Funeral Home bio, Carmon received Masonicare's Luke A. Lockwood Medal for outstanding service to Masonicare in Connecticut and the Pierpont Edwards Medal in bronze for outstanding service to Connecticut Masonry.

Carmon's family include wife Wanda Glowacki, three children (Lisa Carmon Petkis, married to Bernard Petkis; Frank W. Carmon, IV, married to Taryn DiNorcia; and Timothy Harper Carmon, married to Kristin Rowe) and four grandchildren (Kyle and Evan Petkis and Drew and Emily Carmon).

Carmon Funeral Homes have served families throughout the region for more than six decades.

Multiple Connecticut communities have a Carmon Funeral Home, including Windsor, Poquonock, Avon, Vernon, Rockville, Granby, South Windsor and Suffield and Hartford.
