Excellence and Equity Study Canceled

The controversial excellence and equity study to be performed at Windsor High School will not go beyond year one.

Loyola University-Chicago pulled out of the contract Wednesday afternoon, according to Windsor Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jeffrey Villar.

Villar said he received an email from Dr. Marlon James, who led the study in its first and only year, at 12:29 p.m. Wednesday.

According to Villar, James' email simply said he deeply regrets informing Windsor schools, parents and residents that the university will not seek renewal of its contract with Windsor Public Schools to commence the second year of the excellence and equity study, and that work associated with year 1 will be completed.

James' email did not give a reason for the cancellation notice, but did go on to say a detailed explanation would be provided by the university at a later date, Villar said.

According to Villar, work that remains for the current contract year amounts to James sending deliverables; suggested actions to be taken based on research conducted.

Villar added that research has been completed.
