Windsor Youth Set to Shine on Mother's Day Weekend

Windsor Youth Theatre's take on Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat is set to rock L.P. Wilson this weekend.

40 Windsor kids — students from Sage Park and Windsor High School — have worked tirelessly over the past few months to present a classic theater performance this mother's day weekend: "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."

The Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice production is the tale of Joseph, Jacob and his twelve sons — a biblical tale told in comedic fashion that has pleased audiences for decades.

It's a musical whirlwind, presenting tunes of country, rock and roll, calypso and more.

This year's production features 11-year-old Mason Douglas as the lead.

"I love the movie and I like the songs," said Mason, who has 16 solos in the performance.

Mason has been in Windsor Youth Theatre for four years now, and it's all the singing and dancing that keeps him going, he said.

All 40 students have rehearsed for this weekend's performances since January. All that practice has produced a group that's well prepared and set to put on a spectacular show, according to Kelsey Fitzsimmons, one of Windsor Youth Theatre's directors.

"I'm most excited about how prepared the kids are. We are so ready for this... They're energetic. They're enthusiastic and ready to go," said Fitzsimmons.

This year's performances are scheduled for Fri., May 10 and Sat., May 11 at 7:30 p.m. and a Mother's Day matinee on Sun., May 12 at 3 p.m. Tickets are just $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
