Winners of the Historical Society's annual photo contest were announced Tuesday.

Twenty-one local amateur photographers submitted a selection of Windsor photographs to the Windsor Historical Society's annual "Windsor Wonderland Facebook Photo Contest" this year.

220 Facebook users have spoken, and they chose Windsor native Katie Hawran as the winner of this year's competition.

Hawran, who is a junior art student at Central Connecticut State University took home the blue ribbon for her photos of the Plaza Building, the Town Green, Grace Episcopal Church and her grandparent's antique gas pump.

The photos were all taken in October 2011 as an assignment for a course she was taking.

Having been charged with capturing the urban settings of her hometown, Hawran said of her finished product, "I loved the architecture and the abandoned feeling of the old movie theater, and the lighting at the time was perfect for it."
