Windsor Weekend Guide: New Art Series, Singing Dentist and a Beer Tasting

Chocolate Party; Fri., Feb. 10 @ 4 p.m.

If you're a chocolate lover, the Wilson Branch Library is the place for you on Friday. The library is holding an event for children in grades 4 - 8 that is overflowing with chocolate. Chocolate and beverages will be served.

Shad Derby Beer Tasting Fundraiser; Fri., Feb. 10 @ 6 p.m.

The Shad Derby cannot run without the support of Windsor residents who have come to love and treasure the annual tradition. Friday marks the kick-off event of Shad Derby fundraising efforts. Civic organizations invovled in the annual festival will be on hand at the Thomas Hooker Brewery in Bloomfield for a beer tasting and to let you know about all the upcoming events.

Hairdresser on Fire Presents WHS Art; Fri., Feb. 10 @ 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Hairdresser on Fire will hold an opening reception for its new art series, which is aimed at highlighting the works of local artists. Artwork currently on display is from Windsor High's Alison Flores. The reception will begin at 6 p.m., and all donations will go toward supporting scholarships for Windsor High art students.

Mardi Gras Brought by the Youth Services Bureau; Fr., Feb. 10 @ 6 p.m.

From 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. L.P. Wilson will host all the family fun a kid can ask for, presented by Windsor's Youth Services Bureau. L.P. Wilson will be transformed into a Mardi Gras-themed wonderland, complete with a bounce house, mask-painting station and more. Admission is $3 per ticket, or $8 for a family.

Northwest Park Sugarhouse; Sat., Feb. 11 @ 10 a.m.

Starting Saturday, residents will be able to visit Northwest Park's sugarhouse to learn about maple sugaring from the resident expert, Chuck Drake. This event is free. Call 860-285-1886 for more information. The sugarhouse will be open through March 24.

Travel to Korea without Leaving Windsor; Sat., Feb. 11 @ 1 p.m.

No need to contact a travel agent or put a hole in your pocket by traveling to the other side of the world. The Wilson Branch Library is bringing Korea to you Saturday with a full multimedia presentation of Korean culture, which includes a documentary film and the reinactment of a Korean wedding, and a traditional Korean meal prepared by the Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project.

Windsor's Singing Dentist; Sun., Feb. 12 @ 2 p.m.

Winsor's singing dentist, Dr. Steve Lipman, continues his tradition of performing Sinatra classics at the Windsor Art Center on Feb. 12. A suggested donation of $10 will be accepted at the door.
