Windsor Weekend Guide: A Visit from Santa, Winter Magic

A look at events being held in town from Thurs., Dec. 15 - Wed., Dec. 21.

A Visit from Santa - Sat., Dec. 17; 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Santa will be at the Wilson Volunteer Fire Department Saturday morning during the 15th annual "Visit with Santa Claus," sponsored by Dr. George B. Curry and Toys for Tots.

All children will receive a free gift from Santa and a picture. Holiday music will be provided by the Windsor High Brass Choir.

Winter Magic - Sat., Dec. 17; 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Windsor families will be able to escape the winter doldrums with this even at L.P. Wilson Community Center. L.P. Wilson will be taken over by recreation and leisure services and transformed into an indoor beach party.

Can't make it to Florida this holiday season? No problem. The recreation department has you covered with this event, which will feature sand castle contests, games, a bounce house, music, face painting and more. Refreshments and food will be available for sale.

This event costs $8 per family or $3 per person. Call 860-285-1900 for more information.

Also taking place:

  • Christmas Cantata at Poquonock Community Church. This service is free and open to all on Sun., Dec. 18 at 10 a.m.
  • Free skating at Loomis Chaffee's Savage Rink on Sun., Dec. 11 from 1:15 - 3:15 p.m. Hockey sticks and helmets are permitted from 1:15 - 2:15 p.m.
  • The Oliver Ellsworth Holiday Fair will be held thorughout the day from Mon., Dec. 19 - Wed., Dec. 21 at Oliver Ellsworth Elementary School.
