Good News: Shad Derby History Comes Alive

Our town, our festival, our tradition is as alive as ever with the discovery of an historic video.

Thanks to the efforts of WIN-TV and the Shad Fest Bureau, Windsor's Shad Derby history is as alive as ever.

Their efforts have produced a copy of home video from the very first Shad Derby parade, held in 1966.

From the clothing and hair styles to the parade proceeding in the opposite direction, the video is an absolute throwback guaranteed to produce a smile.

And while you're watching, check out town hall, which is under construction. The building was erected that year.

In other good news — You know all that stuff you've attempted to throw out in your spring cleaning efforts, but won't be picked up by the garbage men? There's help coming your way.

The town has announced free dump days on May 4 and May 11 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
