EnvisionFest Hartford Will Deliver Free, Fun and Unique Activities on September 29th

EnvisionFest Hartford is a free city-wide celebration on Saturday, September 29th filled with hundreds of free activities and countless opportunities to discover and experience the capital city’s vibrant arts community and ongoing transformation along the new GreenWalk.

EnvisionFest Hartford will kick off at 9 a.m. when 1,000 riders will begin the 2012 Discover Hartford Bicycle Tour organized by Bike/Walk Connecticut. EnvisionFest Hartford includes hundreds of entertainment options from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. with several stages and performances in Bushnell Park and along the new GreenWalk connecting the State Capitol, downtown streets, Constitution Plaza and the Riverfront. Enjoy free admission and tours of museums and performance venues, including the Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford Stage and Connecticut Science Center, landmark buildings and historic destinations including The Bushnell, Old Statehouse and Capital Community College. At 1 p.m. participate in a world- record attempt for the largest Zumba class, previously set by 3,105 participants in Cairns, Queensland, Australia. Kids and families will participate in a sketch crawl, a passport contest and solve five gazing ball riddles while discovering new activities in Hartford. Don’t forget to bring a blanket, a picnic dinner and some friends and enjoy a performance by the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, with a special addition by the UConn Pride of Connecticut Marching Band. The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Hundreds of volunteers will help visitors experience the event and free parking will be available at Hartford Parking Authority, Church Street, MAT and Morgan Street garages beginning at 9 a.m. The event coincides with Pipes in the Valley, a Celtic music festival along the Riverfront.
