Windsor Residents Challenged to Give a Helping Hand

Linda Alexander is challenging Windsor residents to help one another this winter.

Linda Alexander, a local woman, has delivered a challenge to Windsor residents in the most dire time.

Alexander has offered to match the first $1,000 donated to the Windsor Fuel Bank now through the end of the year, which, if successful, would provide at least $2,000 to the social services program.

The Windsor Fuel Bank provides heating assitance to 85 Windsor families (as of 2010) during the coldest months.

Alexander's generosity was inspired by 2011's extended power outages, something she says reminder her of sky-rocketing fuel prices in the 1970's and the struggle it took for her to stay warm.

"I just hate being cold, and living in the north makes staying warm a challenge at times," she said.
