Windsor Leaf Collection Program Set to Begin

Here's what you'll have to do to ensure your leaves are picked up this year.

Is your lawn filling up with leaves?

No need to worry, the town plans to make avoiding piles and piles of dead leaves a little easier.

Leaf collection is scheduled to begin Oct. 21 and run for the following eight weeks.

According to the town, leaves will be picked up the same day as trash pick-up, and there are just a couple of things you'll have to do to ensure their collection:

  • Put leaves in 30 to 40-pound paper leaf bags or in "similar-sized" containers with an easily-identifiable "Leaves Only" sticker, which can be obtained at town hall or the landfill;
  • Place bags or containers at your curb;
  • and make sure your collection of leaves does not contain grass clippings, branches or trash (this will compromise the compost created with residents' leaves)
The town's leaf collection program runs through December 21.

If you'd rather get rid of your leaves on your own, you can bring your leaves to the town landfill, located at 500 Huckleberry Road, for no charge during the eight-week program. Leaves are accepted at the landfill Monday through Sunday from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
