Shad Derby Queen Crowned
The Coronation Ball culminated with the crowning of the 47th Shad Derby Queen.
For the 47th year, a new Shad Derby Queen has been crowned. This year's Shad Derby Queen for 2012 is Miss Windsor Kiwanis, Bowie Wong.
The Shad Derby Ball was held at the Sheraton Hotel at Bradley International Airport. Each of the candidates was given an opportunity to speak briefly and then the judges retired to calculate the winners.
Princess Royal was awarded to Christianna Gilbert.

First Princess was awarded to Saralynne Brown and Second Princess was awarded to Sonia Matias.
Miss Congeniality was awarded to Camille Caliendo and the Mary Ellin Messina award was presented to Rebecca Charette-Lazarus for her work with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender youth.

The Coronation Ball is the last of three judging events the candidates participate in.
The Shad Derby Queen tradition began in 1966 with the crowning of Joan Dombkowski, Miss Windsor Garage.
