Fourth Annual Windsor Garden Tour

The Windsor Garden Club and Windsor Historical Society present the 2011 Windsor Garden Tour. Come visit the nine inspiring Windsor gardens displaying the originality, skillfulness, and diligence of their owners will be on display Saturday July 16th, 10am to 3pm, rain or shine. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 the day of the tour. Proceeds will benefit the Windsor Garden Club and the Windsor Historical Society.

The gardens may be viewed in any order, and at many of the gardens the owners will be present to share advice and motivation.

• 866 Windsor Avenue (Rt. 159): Visit sun, shade, country and cottage gardens feature plantings donated by the owners’ friends or bought at the Windsor Garden Club plant mart.

• 1244 Windsor Avenue: This garden belongs to Elizabeth Park’s Rosarian. The gardens include well over a hundred varieties of roses.

• 11 Wilton Road: This garden belongs to a past President of the Windsor Garden Club. The gardens include raised beds, trees and shrubs, and annuals and perennials.

• 28 Stinson Place: Sun, shade, rose and raised vegetable gardens make for delicious meals and quiet relaxation.

• 3 Kellogg Street: The owners see their garden as a painting completed over time, and welcome viewers.

• 147 Pleasant Street: These gardens are focused on sustainability with native species and organic fruits and vegetables.

• 377 Merriman Road: This property features flower, vegetable and fruit gardens and a formal herb garden abutting a small pond.

• 54 Bradford Drive: A sunny front yard gives way to a serene and wooded back yard. Enjoy numerous hostas, ferns, daylilies, two small ponds, bird baths and walking paths.

• 155 Fieldstone Drive: Ornamental shrubs and the surrounding trees provide the structure of our organic gardens which bloom from April through October. In midsummer we hope for a profusion of roses, clematis and a variety of hydrangeas and annuals.
