Community Corner

McKay seeks Windsor Town Council seat as an independent candidate.

Hello, my name is Stephen McKay, independent candidate seeking your vote for Windsor Town Council. I'm running as an independent because I am not interested in getting sucked into petty party politics, I am however interested in presenting ideas that I believe would contribute to the long term prosperity of our community. My folks always told me to either do something to improve the situation or don't complain. So, here I am.

My platform is simple and to the point:

More Transparency — Open meetings.

Accountability — Budget documents should be easily accessible and searchable so residents can see specifically where their tax dollars are being spent.

Responsive — Answer citizens questions and concerns quickly and honestly.

Reduce Waste — Speaks for itself.

My political philosophy is simple and straightforward.

I believe government squanders too much of our hard-earned money, burying many working families in debt. As a small business owner, I know what it takes to get things done on a shoestring. I understand what it takes to maintain a stringent budget and I would like to be at the table looking out for my fellow residents and taxpayers.

I am not running against anyone or against a specific party. I am, however, running for the future of my family, friends and my fellow Windsor citizens. I believe that independent thinking and candidates unencumbered by party influence will help lead our community to a brighter future. Ultimately, I want Windsor to be the kind of hometown that my children will one day be able to afford to buy a home in, raise families in and send their children to successful and safe public schools with high academic standards.

I would like to analyze the issues at hand, seek outside counsel when appropriate and base my decisions on a core set of principles that best serve the community as a whole while maintaining important individual freedoms.

I look forward to listening to your thoughts and hopefully garner you support. If you are interested in helping me on this quest please contact me at smckay@euphoriaevents.com or call me directly at 860.547.0773. Thank you for your time and consideration.
