Learn How Montessori is Preparation for Life at Cobb School Open House

On Wednesday, November 20 at 9am, The Cobb School, Montessori in Simsbury will host its final Open House of 2013.  All parents of babies, preschoolers, and elementary aged children are invited to attend.  Local professionals working with children, or anyone interested in Montessori or school options, are also welcome.

A Montessori education is preparation for life.  Children at The Cobb School learn respect, responsibility, independence, and integrity.  They learn to make choices, self start, complete tasks, and work in a community.  Mixed-aged classrooms allow children to learn from one another, and the “three-year cycle” permits every teacher to individualize each student’s course of study over three years at each level, from the Young Children’s Community to the Upper Elementary.

Montessori allows students to follow their interests and work at their own pace.  Most important, it is an approach that supports, respects, and trusts the child.

The Cobb School educates children 15 months through 12 years.  Programs run five days a week from September to June, before its eight-week summer camp begins.  Toddlers and preschool aged children enjoy various pick-up options until 5:30pm, while Elementary students work and play until 3:15pm before many enter its home-like aftercare program.   The Cobb School is “a children’s house” and provides a peaceful, nurturing, and stimulating environment for all its students while meeting the needs of today’s parents.
