Community Update

Tonight a large water main ruptured.  It crosses the Farmington River near the Henry bridge on Palisado Ave.  Because of its location, it took some time to find it.  The delay, however, wasn't due to lack of effort.  MDC people flooded (no pun intended) Windsor looking for the break. When they found it, they quickly shut it down.  Unfortunately, a side effect of shutting down such a large main is a hammer effect - a pressure surge - upstream from the break, which caused a couple of other water main breaks.  MDC quickly responded to them also.  We should be pleased with the service they provided.
Secondly, be pleased with Town Manager, Peter Sousa, and Mayor Don Trinks.  They were both at the site working with MDC to help assure that Windsor people were both well informed (the emergency notification system worked very well) and  helping to minimize our inconvenience.  I'm sure the Windsor police and our fire department played important roles also. Thank them when you see them.
