Constance Barbara (Whitten) Whigham, 94, of Windsor, beloved wife of the late M. Raymond Whighman passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012.
Born December 7, 1917 in Waltham, MA daughter of the late Rollo P. and Elizabeth (Shepard) Whitten she grew up in Waltham, MA before settling in Windsor 66 years ago. She was employed by Peck Adams Advertising Co. of Hartford for over 20 years before retiring, when she was in her 60's she attended Hartford College for Women and received her Associates Degree in English Literature . Constance had a thirst for education and loved to read. She was a member of the Presidents College at University of Hartford and studied at Oxford University, England for six summers and continued to study at University of Hartford. She enjoyed traveling and was always looking for new places to discover. She was a member of the First Church in Windsor, Congregational and was a long time member of the Women's Club. She particularly enjoyed her monthly Birthday Group luncheons, and volunteering at the Windsor Historical society. Connie was an avid tennis player for more than 30 years having learned the game in her 50's.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Marlowe-Martin and her husband, Donald of Essex Junction, VT, Patricia Malone of Bristol; five grandchildren, Wendy Malone Levy (Mark), Kimberly Malone, Craig Malone (Karri), Tiffany Marlowe, Scott Marlowe (Vladimira); and 4 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Bruce Whigham, a son-in-law, Dennis Malone; a brother, Payson Whitten; a sister, Patricia Furbush.
Services will be held at First Church in Windsor, Congregational
