Hartford’s Camp Courant, the largest free day camp in the nation, has selected Robinson & Cole tax associate Scott E. Sebastian to serve on its Board of Directors. Mr. Sebastian sought a position on the board as a way to give back to the community and, in particular, help Hartford-area children.
“With the summer winding down, I think most of us look back favorably on the good times we had as children,” said Mr. Sebastian. “I still recall my summers as a child, playing with my friends or swimming at the community pool. In retrospect, I probably took those opportunities for granted, unaware that not all children shared in my experiences. But thanks to Camp Courant, hundreds of Hartford children will one day similarly reminisce and recall the fun they had during their summers. I am thrilled to be a part of an organization that provides such rich and diverse educational and recreational opportunities, free of charge.”
Camp Courant serves approximately 700 children from Hartford, ages 5 through 12, for six weeks over the summer. Campers participate in a variety of recreational, educational, and cultural programs geared toward developing self-esteem, building positive relationships, and having fun at the campsite in Farmington. Additionally, transportation, two nutritious meals, health care screenings, and a bathing suit (if needed) are provided to every child. Hartford’s Camp Courant has provided free summer activities for city children since the summer of 1894.
