Windsor Town Hall – 275 Broad Street: The Windsor Town Clerk’s office is celebrating the golden anniversary of offering free marriage licenses to couples on February 14thin honor of Valentine’s Day! The tradition of free marriage licenses was started by Windsor Town Clerk George Tudan in 1962.
All day: free marriage licenses available. Couples who are getting married in Windsor within the next 65 days are welcome to come to the Town Clerk’s office between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm for a free marriage license. Both parties must be present and need to bring photo identification, such as a driver’s license.
4:00 PM – 5:30 PM: Reunion for couples who received a free marriage license over the past 50 years. (Six couples have confirmed to attend, including the daughter of late Town Clerk George Tudan. She received her license in 1977. Windsor’s Fire Chief and his wife who received their free license in 1975, as well as his daughter and her husband who received their free license last year on Valentine’s Day will also be present at the reunion. A Justice of the Peace will be on hand for vow renewals if requested.
