I became interested in this in watching the Town of East Granby's P&Z meeting June 10 online.Read MoreTo m Lescaleet Sr VP of Griffin Land/River Bend said that he, the VP of distribution at Dollar Tree had met recently with Town of Windsor over "problems" at Dollar Tree. Hmmmm interesting since they signed off on everything there, why would the VP of the EX-landowner and VP of Dollar Tree who had to fly in from VA meet? Well of course when asked the Town Manager tells me they discussed the trucks on the road and asked again to move the break area from under my windows which of course is not feasible. All that land just can't find a better place-right. But again that is a phone call if they could be bothered at best an email or letter. It makes no sense I believe this meeting was for something more again for the VP to fly in to talk to the Town that signed off on everything and the VP for the EX-landowner. These two entities would not be bothered unless huge dollars are involved. Again I believe I was not given an answer to my question by the Town who claims to be transparent. We did find three OSHA violations for them and wonder if THAT may affect the abatement and the $27.5 million in forgivable loans given to them by our Candy Man in Chief Dannel. So yes John that raises my blood pressure and it should raise yours and everyone else's too. Read what OSHA has to say about Dollar Tree at all of their locations. One person from OSHA is quoted as saying it is their way of doing business. Thank you John for giving me the opportunity to explain better to all the issues here. Now you can go back into your hibernation

I know many read here as I get a lot of questions and comments personally though not on Patch. IfRead Moreon ly more would become involved and question we would have a better Town. Commentary such as Mr Williams' should not stop anyone The money you pay in taxes is more and more a larger part of everyone's personal budget. We should insist at all times that our money is spent wisely and those making the decisions are doing so in our best interest. They work for us. Don't forget that It has been my experience that to question them brings on rude commentary and blatant rudeness. Those actions are to be feared not for their words and actions to me personally but because they feel their position entitles them to do so. Stand up, get involved. Speak out. The Constitution is not dead yet. It is your right

Business as usual, Only the big companies get the tax breaks. The ones that can fundRead Moreelections Worki ng people give more so Windsor's politicians can give it to whomever they want. Walgreens,The Hartford,Dollar Tree and Amazon all pay less,Did any of these companies need tax breaks? I pay full price at these companies when I buy something from them. Every business should pay their fair share. Politicians should not be helping their favorite freinds

Please use your birth name when writing rather than a juvenile archaic off color one.I know as much Read Moreas you given that it is 7/1/14 and the public safety branch of our town government does what it so artfully does:not publicizing just clear objective public press releases on any public safety event from murder, armed robbery,a major drug bust, to auto accidents, and the list continues.Perception is reality and the perception is Windsor Police Department artfully avoids any publication of police activity which may reflect poorly on the town. That is what I plan to achieve with my blog and I hope to see an open dialogue between the employer of Public Safety leadership officials, our Town Council, and the Public Safety employee management team, namely the chief and his assistants.

Oh,it is 7/1/2014 three days after the accident to which you refer and I know as much as you do asRead Moret here has been no press release from the Public Information official o Bloomfield Avenue.

Hello - I am on the BOE here in Windsor :) Thank you Patch readers for helping me to accomplishRead Morethi s goal! ____________________________________________________ Although I am on the BOE, I am only speaking for myself when I say that I believe I have worked very hard to get the ball moving in a few areas. Of course, it appears that we are working against a system that does not too often invite non-educators to the table for open discussions, so it seems that it is a slow and tedious battle. Although, I hear from many teachers that they wish that someone would be willing to ask them what they think, and then bring their insight and ideas forward in a public discussion. ____________________________________________________ I am really interested in hearing what you, Mike Hunt and others, would like to see accomplished? I know that I have been working towards accountability by pushing for a transparent system where student level data (DRAs, etc.) is used to guide instructional methods. But, it seems that there is a push to only highlight the positives within our district, and push the more difficult conversations off, "for the experts." The interesting part is that I believe that we have the potential, through our collective expertise, to join the conversation and develop strategies. Of course, not everyone on the BOE sees the merit in this approach. ____________________________________________________ Please feel free to e-mail me at mfissel@windsorct.org if you would like to touch base about any specific areas you would like to see addressed. I'm sure that other BOE members would be happy to hear from you as well. Everyone's contact information can be found at http://www.windsorct.org/pages/Windsor_Public_Schools/District/Board_of_Education/Board_of_Education_Members Last year, the settings were changed so that your e-mail must be linked directly to the web browser to send an e-mail. Mine is not, so please note that all e-mail addresses are the first initial of the individual, followed by their last name @windsorct.org

MikeHunt, It was suggested by others to watch and or read the minute and history of the BoE to get Read Morean idea of what Windsor is about for Education. Well I now believe, for me, the only way to learn it is to go to the meetings. Which is what I plan to start doing. I have been reading the Town Charter and everything else on the Windsor home page. Not syaing it has made me any smarter but it has wasted a lot of my time...lol I applaud you for saying you are against Common Core. I guess you either of to say it is the greatest thing since sliced bread or you know it is the most dangerous thing since Judas.
